Shanghai Jiangwan Stadium, originally known as Shanghai Stadium, was built in 1933 under the direct leadership of the then Shanghai Municipal Government.
On the afternoon of June 10, 2016, Jiangwan Football Stadium of Shanghai Football Holy Land, which has been vacant for many years and even turned into a golf course, finally returned to the formal opening of the stadium.
In July 1933, the Kuomintang Shanghai Municipal Government issued a bond of 3.5 million yuan, and designated 1 million yuan as a special stadium fund. Foundation was laid in August 1934 and put into use by the Public Works Bureau in early October 1935. The stadium is designed by architect Dong Dayou. It consists of stadium, gymnasium and swimming pool. It covers an area of more than 300 mu.
